We have arrived at that proud, happy, and confusingly painful moment. College Graduation. A sea of red robes and radiant faces. Much advice being offered — so much advice and is anybody listening? Not really. They’re on their way.

You think it will never happen. And then it does.

I keep a day book but instead of entering appointments, I like to make pictures — illustrations of my life as it courses along. Here’s a rendering of what we saw on Sunday in the bright sunshine of a happy day.

Welcome to my blog where I write about the art and craft of my business. My goal is to make beautiful things, to make art part of everyday life, and to make my friends and family smile. Not necessarily in that order.

  1. That’s definitely a milestone moment. I love the idea of an illustrated day book. I’m feeling inspired by that idea – though I’m not sure how interesting drawings of laundry could be.

  2. I believe you would make the best drawings! I made the book using heavy paper because I like to work with watercolors, but alternately you could use any good pad. It takes some discipline to keep it up, but looking over the past months is fun. You know, there are some very famous laundry pictures I can think of — Degas for one! Cheers, and thanks for your message.
