Stellinas

I started experimenting with shapes of raw color with my little Albertinas, printing squares within squares of different colors. Then I began to dream about stripes so I made tiny Gene Davis-ish prints with yellow, gold, orange and red. Now it’s Frank Stella and I’m crazy over the idea of concentric circles, with each arc a different color. I could never achieve the perfect lines and subtle hues of a real Frank Stella. Mine are copycat to begin with, too brightly colored because I cannot do less than that, and a bit lopsided. I like to think that they are pulsating, like the beating of a heart.

They do make me smile. I call them Stellinas and here’s the link: www.etsy.com/listing/201948335/abstract-linocut-cards-bespoke-inspired?ref=shop_home_active_9

Thank you for the inspiration, Mr. Stella. You’re a genius!

Welcome to my blog where I write about the art and craft of my business. My goal is to make beautiful things, to make art part of everyday life, and to make my friends and family smile. Not necessarily in that order.
