Every Picture Tells a Story

Today I was talking to a young woman, a social worker who is helping me in the care of my elderly mother. After the business of our meeting was over, we chatted and she mentioned something about her childhood. So I asked her if she grew up in this area where we live. Now, this woman is blond, blue-eyed, friendly, open, helpful, and super nice — all traits I associate with a good all-American upbringing. She speaks with a pleasant all-American inflection. Imagine my surprise when she told me that she was raised in Romania! She speaks fluent Romanian! She has friends there still.

It just goes to show that everybody has an interesting story inside of them.

Here is a picture of an Italian princess, possibly Infanta Leonore of Aragon. It comes from a marble sculpture by the Renaissnace sculptor Francesco Laurana. I picked it to illustrate my post today because I am absolutely positive that this young woman, too, has an interesting story, could she but tell it.

Welcome to my blog where I write about the art and craft of my business. My goal is to make beautiful things, to make art part of everyday life, and to make my friends and family smile. Not necessarily in that order.
